Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of Ann Wagner as Director of Strategy and Improvement.

The Director of Strategy and Improvement, who will join the Trust in February, will play a key role at Board level, and as part of the Executive Team, in shaping the Trust’s strategic direction.

Ms Wagner will bring a wealth of experience in strategic development from both in and outside the NHS. She joins the Trust from Airdale NHS Foundation Trust where she is currently Director of Strategy and Business Development. Prior to joining Airedale, Ann held a number of senior strategic roles including Executive Director of Service Improvement at West Yorkshire Strategic Health Authority, National Programme Director for the Department of Health Integrated Service Improvement Programme, Programme Director for the West Yorkshire Choice Pilot and Director of Performance Management at Bradford Health Authority

Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, Chief Executive Mairead McAlinden said: “This is a new and vital job in our new integrated care organisation, leading and supporting planning for the improvements our public want to see in health and social care services. Ann shone through a very challenging interview process which involved our staff and key partners and I am delighted that she will be part of our leadership team guiding the changes ahead.

She has the knowledge, experience and drive needed for our integration journey. Becoming one of the very first integrated care organisations in the country on 1 October rightly sets high expectations of our Trust and our staff, and I know Ann will play a key role in delivering our vision of care.

Commenting on her appointment, Ann Wagner said:
“It is an absolute privilege to be joining the new integrated care organisation at this important stage in its development.

“I have been so impressed by the enthusiasm and commitment of staff and partners to take full advantage of the new organisation’s flexibilities and opportunities to truly integrate care to meet the needs of individual people, as well as enhancing the health and care of the local population.

“For my part, I am excited to be bringing my experience of supporting and empowering teams and organisations to innovate and transform services to improve the experience of individuals as well as focusing on population health. I am looking forward to joining a local health and care service that has the potential to set the gold standard of what excellent integrated health and care services can mean for local people.”
