Our hospital heroes of Newton Abbot

Health professionals working at the Minor Injury Unit (MIU) in Newton Abbot Community Hospital, have recently been awarded with the Emergency Services Award as part of the Breeze Local Heroes awards.
Local radio station, The Breeze recognises inspirational and influential people in South Devon with their local heroes awards. The winners were announced in an award ceremony on Saturday 23rd September.
The MIU team, which consist of advanced nurses, paramedic practitioners, assistant practitioners and health care assistants, were nominated for delivering excellent high quality care to all that attend the service.
Deirdre Molloy, Senior Manager of the MIU services for Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust said: “We are absolutely delighted to have received this award.”

Newton Abbot Minor Injury Unit (MIU) is open 8am-8pm, seven days a week. The MIU is able to treat cuts, grazes, sprains, broken bones, and minor skin complaints such as bites, stings, minor burns, and minor infections, as well as emergency contraception, and minor eye problems such as scratches.
The MIU is based at Newton Abbot Community Hospital and can be contacted on 01626 324500. Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust also operates Minor Injury Units in Totnes and Dawlish.
