It’s time to have your say on our urgent and emergency care plans!

Published: 22 June 2018

As you will be aware, the Department of Health recently announced that South Devon and Torbay is to benefit from funding of up to £13m, to improve urgent and emergency services for local people.

The Trust had bid for transformation funding to be able to make much-needed improvements to the physical environment in Torbay Hospital’s Emergency Department (ED) and to its overall emergency and urgent care provision. Over the years, staff working in these services have improved the safety and experience for patients, however the physical environment holds us back. Opportunities for further improvements are limited until the physical environment can be improved for both our patients and staff.

The Trust – together with its partners – is now starting to develop detailed plans that will provide the buildings, environment and services to enable the continued delivery the new model of care where more patients are cared for outside of the hospital setting whilst improving their experience and maintaining their safety whenever they need emergency care.

However, now is the time for you to ‘have your say’! We would like to know your thoughts by telling us:

“what is important to you when seeking urgent and emergency care in Torbay and South Devon?”

Your views will be used to help us develop the final plans for the project.
