Statement on behalf of the NHS in Devon

“The NHS in Devon is beginning to return to normal following the major incident yesterday.

“We would like to thank the public for their continued patience and avoiding the use of Emergency Departments in Devon’s main hospitals unless it is a genuine emergency. 

 “The NHS in Devon remains very busy today with additional delays in out of hours doctor services, particularly. 

“If you can wait to see your doctor later in the week, please think about doing so. 

“Our thoughts continue to be with the 37 patients who have been cared for by the excellent NHS professionals from across the South West.

“We would also like to pay tribute to the work of the wider emergency services for the professional way in which they dealt with the incident.”
