Torbay Council and Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust response to Care Home lockdowns

A joint statement from Torbay Council and Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust

We are encouraging all social care providers to consider Public Health England’s guidance when deciding an appropriate response to Covid-19. It is imperative that those working in, and visiting, healthcare settings follow national hygiene recommendations, including thorough handwashing, to help minimise the spread of Coronavirus.

We alongside public health and NHS colleagues are working closely with national agencies to respond to the developing situation. We’re also working with independent and voluntary sector care providers to ensure as little disruption to their services as possible.

We remind everyone to continue to follow national guidance about steps that we can all take to minimise the spread of Coronavirus, including regular and thorough hand washing to prevent avoidable cross-contamination, and to use disposable tissues when coughing or sneezing to help ‘Catch it, Bin it, Kill it’.

In the meantime, if you have older or vulnerable relatives, friends or neighbours self-isolating or concerned about leaving the house because of Coronavirus, we suggest you stay in touch over the phone, to see if they need any assistance or support.
