Drinking and eating

It is important to have good nutrition following your surgery to help your recovery. You will be given clear instructions by the surgical team about what you are allowed to drink and eat in the first days after your operation.

The vast majority of patients will be allowed to drink non-fizzy drinks and started on a light diet following your operation and you will be encouraged to resume a normal diet as soon as possible. Nausea (feeling sick) is fairly common after surgery and can affect your appetite but we can prescribe medication to help your symptoms.

More information regarding meal times and hospital menus can be obtained from the ward.
