Physiotherapy

Physiotherapists work as part of the perioperative medicine team to aid your recovery after surgery.

Initially they give you breathing exercises to help reduce your chances of chest infections and other respiratory complications and then progress to encouraging mobility and getting you back to your normal activities using a range of treatments depending on your requirements. Physiotherapy education and interventions may begin prior to surgery for patients who have a known lung disease.
