Everyone who is referred to our Breast Care Unit (BCU) service is now seen in the BCU and, thanks to us having several services based with us, our rapid access one-stop clinics reduce the number of visits people have to make. This helps us to offer a better experience for everyone and make sure people are seen as quickly as possible.
Our BCU at Torbay Hospital offers:
- one stop clinics – a rapid “triple” assessment of patients: clinical examination, radiology (mammograms and ultrasound scans) and biopsy
- breast screening through the South Devon Breast Screening Service based on site
- multi-disciplinary team (MDT) management of breast diseases
- a family history and genetics service, in partnership with the genetics team based at Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Our main clinical unit has five clinic rooms and two diagnostic suites (mammogram and ultrasound), and offers full disabled access. However patient bed and trolleys cannot be accommodated.
Location
Our Breast Care Unit (BCU) is completely separate from the main hospital building and stands in the grounds of the hospital site (Green Zone E). Our BCU is signposted from both the Cadewell Lane and Lowes Bridge entrances.
Free parking is available outside our BCU and permits available from our reception.
