Services provided

The Gynaecology Service provides a comprehensive range of Women’s Health Services, with clinical care provided in various settings – with the aim of being sensitive to individual needs of women.

Outpatient services

Clinics are held at Torbay Hospital as well as our community hospitals.

Early Pregnancy Management Service

Patients will usually be seen on the next working day. After a referral by their GP we ask GPs to carry out the following tests:

  • a quantitative HCG blood test; and
  • blood group check.

Infertility Service

A comprehensive investigation and treatment service is provided primarily in the Infertility Clinic or by a nominated consultant. This clinic is only held in Torbay Hospital. Access to IVF services available privately.

Colposcopy Service

Support and advice is available for the Cervical Screening programme. This clinic held in Torbay Hospital only.

Cancer Service

Urodynamic Service

A comprehensive uro-gynaecological service is provided, led by consultant staff, to fully evaluate all dysfunctions of female bladder and pelvic floor.

Emergency arrangements

All gynaecology and early pregnancy (less than 24 weeks) emergencies will be dealt with round-the-clock through the Emergency Assessment Unit (EAU) on the Torbay site – by GP or self-referral.
