Services

Identifying those at higher risk of osteoporosis.

The service uses a full body DEXA scanner to measure the density of the bones at the hip & spine. Bone density scans are only recommended for people who are at high risk of osteoporosis.

Once a referral is received the coordinator and nurse will prioritise and organise for the patient to attend an outpatient appointment. The outpatient appointment will consist of a risk assessment, scan and lifestyle advice. Once the patient has been to their appointment a discharge summary will be sent to the referrer/GP and the patient indicating whether the patient’s bones are normal, osteopenic or osteoporotic.

To help you to benefit fully from our services, we have prepared some videos that will provide support to you.
