Research studies and clinical trials
There are many different types of research studies and clinical trials which we are involved with, some look at improving current treatments; others focus on specific conditions or medical devices.
All of our studies and trials have to follow strict rules on medical ethics and have been approved by the relevant governing bodies. To find out more information on how studies within the NHS and England are approved and what is involved in a clinical trial please refer to NHS Choices’ clinical trials and medical research site.
At present we have research taking place in the following areas:
- Accident and Emergencies
- Bones and Joints
- Bowel Disease
- Brain / Nervous System
- Child Health
- Digestive Health
- Heart Intensive Care
- Inflammatory Conditions
- Therapies and Rehabilitation
- Women’s Health
Our Trust recruits around 1,500 patients into trials each year. The more research carried out, the better the outcome for patients all over the world.
If you are interested in volunteering to participate in a trial, or just want more information to see what our patients have to say about being involved in research or contact our dedicated research team.
