Services
The Ricky Grant Day Centre is a haematology/oncology day centre providing chemotherapy and other associated treatments, plus education and advice, on an outpatient basis.
We work in close association with Turner Ward, the acute care ward for haematology and oncology, and maintain open lines of communication between ourselves and the community, including GPs, District Nurses, Macmillan Nurses and the Rowcroft Hospice, thus making every effort to provide a seamless service for the patient and their significant others in their cancer journey.
We are a resource for both staff and patients regarding the care of patients receiving chemotherapy.
The unit also provides a P.I.C.C. line placement nurse-led service, in association with Turner Ward, and assists patients with the maintenance of their line. Support is also given to outpatients regarding the insertion of Hickman lines. A new clinic and venous access assessment service provides patients with appropriate information regarding their diagnosis, planned treatment and likely side effects. This enables us to identify any venous access issues and plan accordingly. Patient held records are provided.
