Stopping the spread of infection

By washing your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds, wearing a face mask when in crowded areas and continuing to social distance you will help protect yourself and others from COIVD-19. Good handwashing also helps to prevent the spread of other winter illnesses such as flu and norovirus (winter vomiting).

Please remember if you are going into a healthcare facility that you must wear a mask, and you should not visit if you are suffering from flu, upset stomach or other contagious viruses.

In this video, Dr Joanne Watson, our Director of Infection Prevention and Control, talks about the impact that norovirus and other winter illnesses can have on our hospital services, what you can do to prevent the spread of infection and when to seek help.
