Recognising Support Services contributions during COVID-19
Published: 13 May 2021
Over the last year a number of our support services have been front and centre in supporting our frontline teams to respond rapidly to COVID-19 surges.
Their hard work often goes under the radar and it was great to be able to recognise their contributions through our Staff Heroes awards programme. John Harrison, Chief Operating Officer, presented the awards to the teams.
Some of the teams recognised included Procurement and PPE, who were vital in ensuring that our people had the right equipment in order to do their jobs safely and protect our patient. Infection Prevention and Control were able to provide guidance and support to all staff and frequently had to adapt their own guidance as updates came through nationally. Various ward and department moves took place very quickly which required a real team effort from departments across our organisation, such as Estates and Facilities Management who adapted and improved areas, and IT and Medical Electronics who had to organise moving a large amount of equipment and put in new kit for teams to work effectively.
It has been so important for us to recognise that responding to the pandemic has affected every single member of our staff, and it has been a real team effort in order for us to adapt, respond and continue to provide a high level of care and support for people. Thank you to everyone and it has been great to celebrate just some examples of hard work and dedication.
