Our new electronic patient record has launched

Published: 7 April 2026
Our new electronic patient record (EPR) has now launched across our hospitals and community sites, bringing together patient health information in a digital format that can be shared across different health care settings in Devon. It includes a range of data from medication, allergies and laboratory test results to radiology images, care plans and vital signs.
The Devon EPR will bring together all patient records across three partners:
- Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
- Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust
- University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (launching 23 July 2026)
You might see members of your clinical team doing more work on computers, phones or other electronic devices than before. This will be part of their work checking your record so they can look after you to the highest possible standards.
Chief Operating Officer Adel Jones said: “Colleagues are really excited about our new EPR and I’d like to thank everyone for working so hard to launch the system safely and to keep delivering the highest possible quality of care. As we get to grips with our new system, patient safety and care remain our top priority.
“We’re asking for our patients, and their families and carers to bear with us over the coming days while colleagues get used to the new system. If you have concerns or need additional help with your care at any time, please talk to your clinical team.”
For patients, one of the most exciting parts of the EPR is the new MY CARE patient portal. This is a secure app and website that patients and their families can use on their computer, mobile or tablet to access parts of their health care record such as appointment times, test results and much more.
Please visit our MY CARE page to find out more. Your clinical team will also be able to talk to you about MY CARE.
