Torbay Emergency Duty Service

The Emergency Duty Service provides urgent social work support in Torbay outside of standard office hours. The service covers adult social care, children’s services, mental health support, and emergency homeless applications.

The team includes experienced social workers and support staff who have the skills and knowledge to support individuals and families experiencing a crisis.

Opening hours

We are available during the following times:

• Monday to Thursday: 4:30pm to 9am the following morning.
• Weekends: From 4pm on Friday until 9am on Monday morning.
• Bank holidays: From 4:30pm on the evening before the bank holiday until 9am on the next working day.

Example of bank holiday hours:

• If the bank holiday is on a Monday, we are open from 4pm on the Friday afternoon straight through until 9am on the Tuesday morning.
• If the bank holiday is on a Wednesday, we open at 4:30pm on Tuesday evening and stay open straight through until 9am on Thursday morning.
