Join our team
Welcome to the start of your NHS career. Whether you are looking for your first job or moving into a new role, our recruitment team is here to help you.
We can support you with:
- finding vacancies
- understanding career pathways
- completing your application
Before you apply
- Explore our benefits: read our interactive staff booklet to learn about our culture and staff benefits.
- Look at current roles: visit our vacancies page to browse live jobs. Apply as early as you can. Roles fill quickly, and we may close adverts before the listed closing date.
- Talk to us: every job advert has a contact person. We recommend reaching out to them for an informal chat or to arrange a department visit before you apply.
- Read the details: download and read the job description and person specification from the advert.
How to apply
- When you click ‘Apply now’ on one of our adverts, we will direct you to Trac.jobs. You will need to sign in or create an account to start.
- Pre-application questions: You will need to answer a few initial questions, including your immigration status.
- Step-by-step forms: You must fill out the form section by section. You need to review all questions in a section before you can mark it as complete.
If you have not used Trac before, please browse the Trac support features or contact us directly.
Top tips:
- Save your work to avoid losing your progress, save your application every 10 minutes. This is especially important if your internet connection is unstable.
- Draft applications stay in your account for up to 90 days after the closing date before they are deleted. You can also delete drafts manually at any time.
Writing your supporting information
The supporting information section is your chance to show the shortlisting panel why you are a great fit for the role.
To make your application as strong as possible:
- use the job description and person specification to guide what you write
- give clear, real-life examples of how you have used the required skills
- explain how your experience prepares you for the main duties of the job
Work history and honesty
- Explain any gaps: make sure your employment history is complete. If you have gaps in your dates (such as a career break, travel, or redundancy), give a clear explanation.
- Be accurate: all information in your application must be true and accurate. Do not copy and paste text directly from AI tools. This creates a generic application and lowers your chance of success. It can also be treated as fraud.
What happens next?
Our recruitment coordinators will support you through the whole hiring process.
Once the job advert closes, the shortlisting panel aims to contact you within 7 working days. They will message you through Trac.jobs, which will send an alert to your email.
- If you are shortlisted: We will contact you with interview details and the next steps.
- If you are not shortlisted: We encourage you to ask for feedback. Understanding how the panel assessed your application can help you strengthen future applications.
