Annual members’ meeting

Introduction

Our Annual Members’ Meeting is your opportunity to help shape how health and care services are delivered closer to home and in our neighbourhoods. Meet NHS staff, community organisations and our governors, access health and wellbeing advice, learn more about local services, and celebrate what we’ve achieved together during the past year.

Our governors will also be hosting an informal drop-in session throughout the afternoon, offering the chance to share feedback, answer questions and share details about their role in representing our communities.

Paignton Library, Great Western Road, Paignton, TQ4 5AG
Schedule:

Neighbourhood conversations

Do you want to help shape the future of neighbourhood health and care services across Torbay and South Devon? We’ll be running a series of small group conversations to understand what’s important to help people to live well and receive personalised, joined-up care closer to their home.

We want to hear from people who have experience of receiving care in the past three years – either as a patient, a carer, a volunteer or community groups – to join one of six themed discussion groups so we can understand what matters most and how services could work better together:

  • midday: Children and young people with long term health conditions
  • midday: Frailty and falls
  • 1pm: Diabetes
  • 1pm: Cardiovascular health
  • 2pm: End of life care
  • 2pm: Respiratory health

Each conversation will last around 45 to 60 minutes and we’ll ask you to share your thoughts, ideas and experiences about what works already, what could be improved and what support people need to live well in their communities. These are early listening conversations to help shape our future neighbourhood model, not a consultation on a set of proposals or a fixed plan.

There are eight spaces available in each themed group and we’ll allocate places to ensure a broad range of experience and viewpoints. You don’t need any specialist knowledge or expertise to join us.

We’ll be running separate conversations with partners from the health and care sector, the voluntary sector and community organisations in the autumn.

Why get involved?

You’ll be helping us to:

  • understand what gets in the way of accessing care and support
  • find out how we can improve coordination between services
  • explore how care can be delivered closer to home
  • build on community strengths
  • shape future neighbourhood health and care models

Feedback is confidential and the information we gather from these conversations will help with the development of our neighbourhoods’ model during the next 12 to 18 months.

Register your interest

Please email the Communications team by 5pm on Friday 18 September stating which themed discussion group you’d like to attend. Please include a brief description about why this theme interests you.

Please also let us know if you have any specific requirements and if you’re interested in more than one theme. If the times don’t clash and there is space, we’d be happy to accommodate people joining more than one discussion group. We’ll confirm places a week before the event.
