Get involved in research
How you can get involved in research and make a difference
Research takes many forms and you can take part in all sorts of ways.
In some research studies you may better understand or help to improve your own condition or help others with your condition in the future.
Our research relies on volunteers. Patients actively undergoing treatment may be able to take part in a suitable study in relation to their treatment and care at the hospital or some studies involve carers or healthy members of the public as well.
If you are a patient here at Torbay and South Devon you may be invited to take part in a clinical trial or study. It is entirely up to you whether or not you wish to participate. If you choose not to take part, it will not affect your treatment or care in any way.
Research has shown that patients want their NHS to be involved in research and for them to have the opportunity to be involved.
Research makes a real difference to real people just like you
The videos below show some of our patients’ experience of research and informs you about what is involved in participating in research, the potential benefits, and what support you will receive.
