Get the help you need quickly

Graphic: Think 111 first

To get advice on the right healthcare for your needs you can go online or call 111.

Choosing the right service when you are unwell or injured helps you to get the care you need as soon as possible. It also reduces pressure on emergency services, freeing them up to help those who need it most.

Life-threatening emergencies call 999

Call 999 and attend the Emergency Department in a medical emergency, when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

Non-life-threatening emergencies go online to 111 or call 111

For other non-life-threatening emergencies you may be more appropriately treated elsewhere. Here is a brief explanation of the different services available.

NHS 111 can help if you have an urgent medical problem and you’re not sure what to do. It is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
