Apprenticeship FAQs and contact details

Who can be eligible for an apprenticeship?

Anyone who has residency in England for at least the last 3 years and aged 16 years or over; whether employed, unemployed or leaving school; there is no upper age limit. Depending on the level of the apprenticeship standard there maybe qualifications requirements to be able to apply/enrol onto the apprenticeship for example this could be GCSEs (A-C) in English, Maths and Science.

How long does an apprenticeship last?

An apprenticeship programme can take between one and four years to complete depending on the level of apprenticeship being undertaken. As a guide, an Intermediate Level 2 Apprenticeship usually takes around 12 to 18 months to complete, Advanced Level 3 Apprenticeships around 18 to 24 months. Higher level Apprenticeships can last up to 36 to 48 months.

How is training delivered?

The apprenticeship is a work-based standard and or qualification. The apprentice will create a portfolio of evidence throughout their apprenticeship programme. The training provider will deliver the knowledge, skills, and behaviours either via a classroom, virtual learning platform or in the workplace. The training provider will offer guidance and support throughout the qualification with the support of your workplace mentors, coach, and team.

Most apprenticeships require that the learner undertake an End Point Assessment (EPA). The training provider and your manager will determine if the apprentice is ready to enter the gateway for their EPA, the apprentice will be fully prepared for the EPA. The EPA is completed to assess the knowledge, skills and behaviours learnt throughout the apprenticeship.

What do I do when I’ve finished?

Our aim is to employ all new Apprentices with the Trust. If the apprentice has fulfilled the apprenticeship requirements, we will offer a permanent job within our Trust. There also may be an opportunity to progress onto the next level of apprenticeship.
