Birth Reflections Service
We hope your birth was a good experience. But for some people, birth can be hard. It can leave you feeling worried, sad, or upset.
There are many reasons why birth may feel difficult:
- it may not have gone the way you expected
- there may have been problems during labour
- you may still have questions or upsetting memories
Everyone feels differently, and all feelings are important.
How we can help
Birth Reflections is a service run by midwives. It gives you time and space to:
- talk about your birth
- understand what happened
- ask questions
- share how you feel
This can help make difficult memories easier to manage.
Who can use this service?
You can use this service if you:
- had your baby at Torbay Hospital, or
- are getting care from Torbay Maternity
Please bring your birth partner with you.
When can I come?
We suggest waiting until at least 6 weeks after your baby is born. This gives your body and mind time to recover.
After this, you can come at any time. There is no time limit. You can come:
- months later
- during another pregnancy or if you are planning a future pregnancy
