EpicCare Link
Secure access to patient information for our health and care partners.
Our new Electronic Patient Record, Epic, will bring together all patient records across three partners:
- Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
- Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust
- University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust
As part of this, EpicCare Link offers an online portal that gives authorised partner organisations access to the information needed to support their patients’ care.
EpicCare Link is a secure system accessed via a web browser, that allows trusted care providers – such as other NHS Trusts, GP practices, Adult Social Care teams, community services and specialist providers – to view relevant patient information.
Benefits of EpicCare Link
EpicCare Link allows us to work more easily and safely with our health and care partners by providing real time, read only access to key parts of a patient’s record.
Professionals across different organisations can access the same up to date information, helping to improve patient experience and reduce delays in treatment. It reduces the need for phone calls, emails and manual information requests, making communication between services much quicker.
EpicCare Link is accessed from a web browser and is designed to be simple and intuitive, giving access to review patient charts, see demographic and appointment information, view test results and review other clinical information.
Some sensitive or abnormal test results may be briefly delayed to make sure appropriate clinical communications and follow up processes are followed for patients.
How to get access
Access requires an appropriate Data Sharing Agreement to be in place. If your organisation needs access to EpicCare Link, we will:
- Review any existing Data Sharing Agreement.
- Arrange a new, dedicated agreement if needed.
- Work with a named contact in your organisation, usually a manager or data controller, to complete the setup.
