While you wait
Demand for our service is high, which means there may be a waiting list. Waiting times depend on your specific treatment and clinical needs. All referrals are prioritised individually by our experienced clinicians.
What should I do if my situation changes?
- If you no longer require therapy, please contact the appropriate team to update us.
- If your situation has worsened, contact the team so your referral can be triaged appropriately.
What can I do while I am waiting?
- Identify specific community-based rehabilitation goals you would like to achieve.
For example: “To be able to walk independently around my home with a walking stick rather than a zimmer frame.” - Gather relevant medical history, a list of medications, and falls history (if appropriate).
- Stay as active as you can and engage in functional tasks safely.
What about equipment?
You may prefer to purchase your own aids privately from a local mobility store or online rather than waiting for an assessment.
If you need equipment such as grab rails, toilet frames, perching stools, commodes, stand aids, or hoists, and do not have rehabilitation goals, an Occupational Therapist can review you. Please contact them using the same numbers listed above.
