What is the MDT Clinic?

The Multi-Disciplinary Team clinic is attended by all consultants in the specialties / disciplines of Orthodontics, Restorative Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

What is the purpose of the MDT Clinic?

The aim of the clinic is to ensure that all possible treatment options are considered by the consultants in order to provide you with the best possible care.

Which staff make up the MDT Clinic?

The clinic is very busy and the following staff may be in attendance:

• Consultant Orthodontist
• Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons
• Specialty Doctors
• Dental Core Trainees
• Specialist Dental Nurses
• Dental Technicians

During your appointment

Please do not worry about the numbers of staff and the ‘dental language’ that may be used as a simplified summary will be presented to you. There will be time for you to let us know your views and discuss the possible treatment options. It is extremely important that we understand your views and know that you are happy to proceed with any treatment. If you require time to think about treatments available and, if necessary, discuss them with your family and friends then further appointments can be made for you. As part of the consultation process x-rays, impressions of your teeth and photographs may be taken.
