Entertainment and information service
In most wards, patients have access to a bedside entertainment and information service with a TV monitor and telephone handset. This gives you access to terrestrial and satellite channels, the internet, email and fax, as well as radio channels, including the Hospital Radio channel. It means you can make and receive telephone calls. There is a charge for some of these services.
Staff from the company which provides these bedside facilities can help you how to use them and which of the services are free of charge.
Wards have televisions in their Day Rooms.
Hospital radio stations
There are two hospital radio stations:
- Torbay Hospital Radio – Call our 24 hour request line for your very own request on 01803 655360 or 5360 from the Premier Bedside phones.
- Tower Sound at Newton Abbot Hospital.
Both are independent voluntary organisations. Potential volunteers can contact the Voluntary Services Co-ordinator on 01803 656760.
More information can be found on our becoming a volunteer page.
