Visiting times are 8am – 8pm, though we would ask you to respect our protected mealtimes and not visit between 12.30pm – 1.30pm and 5.30pm – 6.30pm.

General information

The MIU at Totnes Community Hospital has an ‘appointment-priority’ service, 8am – 5pm, 7 days a week, including bank holidays (closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day).

Bookings will only be taken for the same day. To book an appointment, please call 01803 862622 and select option 1.

The unit supports walk-in visitors, but appointments will be prioritised. If the service is at capacity, the walk-in may be redirected or called back at an alternative time.

X-ray facilities times may vary, so it is advisable to check with the hospital’s main reception. X-ray services may not be available everyday however if attending MIU, you will be assessed fully by the MIU Nurse practitioner and provided with an appropriate treatment plan to meet your clinical needs.

Travelling by car

On-site parking arrangements: The site operates a pay and display car park for visitors and permits for staff. For parking information that applies across all of our premises, including charges and concessionary information, please see our car parking page.

Travelling by bus

The buses in Totnes all stop opposite the Royal Seven Stars Hotel at the bottom of the town, which is roughly a 5 minutes’ walk to the hospital.

From Plymouth, Paignton or Torquay you need to catch Stagecoach Gold. See Stagecoach timetable.

From Exeter, Newton Abbot, Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Salcombe catch the number 7. See Stagecoach timetable.

Travelling by rail

Totnes Railway station is only 0.2 miles away from the hospital. If you are walking leave the station, turn left at the main road junction and take 4th exit off the roundabout by Morrison’s petrol station, the hospital is the first turning on the left.
