Carers Rights Day

Carers Rights Day is the opportunity for us to remind unpaid carers of their rights:

• To an assessment of their needs as a carer.
• To engage in work, education, training or volunteering (if they want).
To be involved in care, support and discharge planning if the person you care for is admitted to hospital.
• to be involved in the assessment of the person that you care for, if they consent. If they do not consent to your involvement, you can still share your thoughts / opinions with the person undertaking the assessment.
• to be recognised as a carer. This can include at your doctor’s surgery. Join Torbay Carers for your Carers’ Passport Card to help you achieve this If you are under 16, speak to the Young Carers Service.
