Carers Rights Day 2024

Celebrating Carers’ Rights Day ‘Recognising Your Rights’

Carers Rights Day 2024 will be held on Saturday 23 November 2024, 10am to 2pm at Paignton Library.

Programme of events:

10:30am:
Opening speeches (downstairs). This year’s speeches are by Cllr by David Thomas, leader of Torbay Council, and Liz Davenport, Chief Executive of our NHS Trust who was a young carer herself
10:40am:
Children’s choir
10:50am:
Drama – ‘Am I a Carer?’ (downstairs) by Nev from Ubuntu Multicultural Mentoring CiC
11am:
Drama (upstairs). ‘What should I do?’
11:30am:
Talk and Q+A with Dr R Allison on carers’ rights and support in hospital
Midday:
Talk and Q+A. Katy Heard on carers’ rights to assessment and support
12:30pm:
Talk and Q+A with Wollens solicitors about planning ahead
1pm:
Drama – ‘Am I a Carer?’ (downstairs) by Nev from Ubuntu Multicultural Mentoring CiC (repeat of 10:50am event)
1:10pm:
Drama (upstairs). ‘What should I do?’ (repeat of 11am event)

‘Have your say’ discussion with Natalie Townsend about Signposts magazine, NHS plans, carers’ courses, and more
