We have a timetable of child health clinics that run across the bay. Clinics are run by health visitors and nursery nurses on a drop in basis. Click the link below for more details, clinic times, and a short video about attending a child health clinic and what to take with you.

In a clinic we weigh babies, measure babies, answer questions from parents/guardians, give advice and support, assess and, if the health visitor is present, prescribe for minor ailments. We do not usually have private rooms so we will offer home visits if families wish to discuss sensitive or private subjects. Parents need to bring their baby’s red book for us to record weight/length in as well as spare nappies and wipes as babies should be fully undressed for weighing.

We recommend, as a guide, babies 2 weeks – 6 months are weighed monthly, babies 6-12 months every 2 months, and babies/children over 12 months every 3 months. Often children over 12 months do not need to be weighed as regularly as this. Your health visitor or GP will advise you if you need to have your baby weighed more regularly than this.

Parents can bring their babies/children to clinic until they are 5 years old but they do not have to be undressed under 2 years.
