Coming in for an Ophthalmology appointment

During your outpatient visit, all our patients follow a similar journey through clinic.

Your attendance in clinic will be registered by one of our reception team, then your notes will be passed to the clinical team.

You will then have your visual acuity checked by one of our nurses or healthcare assistants. If necessary our clinicians will prescribe drops to put into your eyes prior to your assessment or treatment.

You will then have any tests requested by the clinician who will see you. At Torbay Hospital we are fortunate to be equipped with some of the latest pieces of diagnostic instrumentation. This may include visual field testing, and or scans and photographs of the retina (at the back of the eye). This will aid the clinician in deciding how best to care for you.

You will then see the clinician who will assessment of your eyes and/or deliver your treatment.
